The KI Infection network has awarded internal grants each year since its establishment. The purpose of these grants is to promote interaction amongst KI scientists and to support new and promising research projects in the field of infection biology. The network has announced these grant opportunities in KI Bladet as well as on home pages and notice boards around KI in order to obtain as many applicants as possible. The response has been very good and the quality of the applications has been impressive. Each year, the grants were reviewed by external reviewers and the top-ranked applications were selected to present at an Open Hearing. The grants were then awarded based on both the written application and the presentation during the Open Hearing and a special emphasis was placed on the quality of the research plan and on the synergy effects between the applicants and co-applicants.

The Open Hearing for the first KI Infection Grants was held on June 13, 2006 where six projects were presented. Internal grants were awarded to two specific post-doctoral fellows who were engaged in the selected projects. For more information, go to the Grants 2006 menue.

The Open Hearing for the second KI Infection Grants was held on December 12, 2007 where eight projects were presented. Internal grants were awarded to two basic projects and two clinical projects. For more information, go to the Grants 2007 menue.
