Welcome to the KI Infection network. The KI Infection Network aims to promote interactions between scientists working in all disciplines of infectious diseases. The mission of the Network is to act as a hub for infection biology-related information and to highlight interesting news and events. You can read more about our goals on the mission link on the left hand side.  If you would like to post news items on the website or if you have any comments or questions about this site please email the webmaster at: john.sennett@ki.se

Project: Activating receptors on antigen presenting cells
We have cloned a novel receptor expressed on antigen presenting cells, including dendritic cells (DC), macrophages and B cells, that we have named triggering receptor expressed in antigen presenting cells (TRAPC). The receptor belongs to the TREM family of molecules and associates with DAP12 to ...
Project: Calcium Signaling and Drug Resistance in Malaria Parasites
The overall goal of this project is to study the role of calcium (Ca2+) signaling for drug resistance in the human malaria parasite (Plasmodium falciparum). A major obstacle in today’s malaria control programs is the drug resistance which was developed to nearly all existent antimalarials used ...
Project: Asthma Quality of life guided Treatment (AQT, Livskvalitetsstyrd astmabehandling)

Project: Dissection of cellular immune responses to mycobacterial infections in mice reconstituted de novo with human myeloid and lymphoid cellular lineages.
In this project we will set up a “humanized” mouse model, carrying a functional human immune system that will permit the first experimental investigation of human immunity to mycobacteria and HIV. We anticipate that such novel system will also be of importance in development of immunoprophylaxis ...
